You can view and change the properties of the document in Document Properties, such as security settings, initial view, and description.

Do any of the following to open Document Properties dialog box:

  • Choose File > Properties.

  • Press Command + D

Document Properties dialog box

  • Description

    • Description: This area shows the basic information about the current document: title, author, subject, base URL, keywords, and the time the document is created and modified. Right PDF supports Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP), which lets you embed metadata into documents themselves during the content creation process, so whoever works with you can easily get information about the files, such as document titles, author, descriptions, keywords, and copyright information. To start, click Additional Metadata to edit and update the metadata.

    • Advanced: This area shows the application that produces the document, the PDF version, the page and file size, location, number of pages, whether the document has been tagged, and if the document is enabled for Fast Web View. The information in the Advanced area is generated automatically and cannot be modified unless Inspect Document is used to permanently remove Metadata and Embedded non-display data. Within Inspect Document, select Metadata to remove the entire Description area and information of PDF Producer from document properties.

  • Security

This shows the security settings and permitted actions of the current PDF. To change the settings, choose a method from the Security Method drop-down menu and apply it to the document.

  • Initial view

It decides how the PDF document is presented when it is opened, including the initial window size, the zoom level, the starting page number, and whether menu bar, toolbars and window controls are displayed.

Note: if “Restore last view settings when reopening documents” (Preferences > General > Miscellaneous) is selected, all view settings are restored when reopening the document, overriding Initial View settings.

  • Custom

You can add your own property categories to the document.

  • Fonts

It lists the fonts and font types used in this document, and the fonts, font types, and encoding used to display the original fonts.

If you don’t like the current substitute fonts, you may want to install the original fonts on the system, or ask the author to embed the original fonts and generate a new document.

  • Advanced

    • Reading Options: shows reading direction and language used in this document.

    • Print Dialog Presets: lets you create a print preset, so that you don’t have to set certain options each time you print the document. Remember, in order to keep a print preset, save the PDF after it is created.

      • Page Scaling: It provides two options: Default and None. Default means Fit to Paper in the Print Handling section of the Print dialog box.

      • Duplex Mode: For duplex options to work properly, the selected printer should support duplex printing.

      • Print Page Range: You can determinate the Page range in the Print Range section of the Print dialog box.

      • Number of Copies: You can decide how many copies you want to print. Choose a number from 2 to 5, or choose Default, which means 1 copy.
